1. Getting refunded depends largely on two things. First, how did you file your claims, by mailing or by e-filing? Second, how do you want to get paid, by check or by direct deposit? Mailing the claims and choosing to get paid through check takes at least two months.
2. You can check the status of your refund once the claim is filed through IRS’s “Where’s My Refund?” system. If you mailed your claim, you check on the system in two weeks. If you e-filed, you can check on your refund status within 72 hours. If there was a problem in your claims, such as an error in your bank account number or your address, the system will guide you how to correct the errors.
