1. Be specific. The Journal of Experimental Psychology reported that philanthropists who donate to concrete charitable causes such as funding the construction of a school building, are happier compared with those who donate to abstract goals.
2. Use the social network. In the research conducted by the International Journal of Happiness and Development, it was found out that people are more fulfilled to give to someone they personally know or to philanthropic cause which they feel they are personally connected.
3. Learn to say “no”. During the holidays, there are lots of ubiquitous fund raising activities so don’t think you have to give every time you are asked. The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology reported that people are more fulfilled to give when they don’t feel being pressured to do so.
