When going to a social function, imagine that you are invisible under a cloak. It covers certain parts of your personality. You have to decide who you are going to be today and reflect that in your actions. Over time, your attitudes would change, matching your behaviors.
2. The Game Technique. Confidence building need not be hard work. You can turn it into a game. For instance, you can use the first 60 seconds of a social event to introduce yourself to someone. The rule is that you have to get there before your anxiety does. Also, you may also use the first 60 seconds to go up to someone and give him a genuine compliment. Over time, you get comfortable being with someone new.
