Many people fall victims of natural disasters without even trying to defend themselves. When Mother Nature unleashes her power, she can hit anyone along her path regardless of who is there. She hits by random. So anyone can be the next victim.
We can avoid heavy damages when we plan and prepare for the worst. Here’s how.
1. Be ready. This may not make sense but this is exactly the point. Don’t prepare at the last minute. Let all your family members know what to do. It may take a long time to move your entire family so it is important to let them be aware of the plan. Assign responsibilities: who will carry the medicine kit, food, and other stuff for emergencies.
2. Appoint a kin outside your neighborhood who you can contact and head to when emergencies happen. Let all family members know where you are heading so that those who are not home when the disaster happens would know where to run to.
3. Make an assessment of all your valuables for the purpose of insurance claims. Make a list and take photos of these stuff. Be sure to insert the list inside the emergency kit and be sure it is safe lest your efforts would be useless.
4. Be sure that the insurance coverage is adequate and updated. Your policies should be able to take care of replacements.
5. Make a backup file of your computer and keep them off site. It would help if you can make electronic copies of your family’s important documents.
6. Establish an emergency fund. Natural disaster might also damage to your workplace and it’s important to have ready cash.
