The operations of the company are divided into two segments, namely Upstream Business and Downstream Business. Its upstream venture is engaged in the production of primary aluminum. This business arm is comprised of their bauxite mine in St. Ann, Jamaica, an aluminum smelter (Noranda Aluminum, Inc.) and their aluminum refinery (Noranda Aluminum LLC). The downstream business arm is represented by Norandal USA, which continues to create aluminum foil and light gauge sheet.

Smith as CEO and President, the business continues to generate millions of dollars annually. It remains publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NOR).
