In a study conducted by Workfront, a project management systems company, it was said that half of the respondents have missed many important family events because of work. Close to 40% of them said their efficiency at work was affected by such incidents. These family time interruptions resulted in low morale, burnout and high employee turnover rate in most of these respondents.
When directly asked which factors harmed their work lives, respondents identified bad bosses - oftentimes described as mean, overbearing and demanding - first. Regularly working beyond normal working hours came second. Tied for third are long travel hours and incompetent workmates.
Seventy percent of the respondents also said that if these bosses would only address such factors, proper work-life balance would be restored.
