The New York City-based investment and insurance, and retirement company started as ING U.S., the operating subsidiary of ING Group in the United States. The ING Group, a Dutch global banking and financial services corporation, is engaged in direct banking, retail banking, commercial banking, insurance services, and asset management; in 2012, it was considered as the world's largest banking/financial services and insurance conglomerate in terms of revenue in Fortune Global 500.
But in 2013, Voya Financial was spun off through an initial public offering. By April 2014, it was rebranded to its current name. Today, Voya Financial has served more than 13 million clients with over $500 billion in assets under its management.
