Relax and stay calm. Being laid off could be just the start of a brand new day. Stay poised because losing your job can be a great blessing for you.
Of course, it would be pure hypocrisy if you will not worry about paying the bills, or finding another job. But looking at your job loss as a source of blessing is like finding a gem in a pile of rubble. Imagine the time you could spend with your family and yourself. Imagine doing the things you love to do now that you have the luxury of time.
These may be superficial so I want you to take a look at some motivations to look at your job loss positively.
Your job loss was not your fault. Don’t ever think that you were inefficient. It just came to a point that your company is struggling. They are laying off to cut on costs. That’s everything there is about it. Don’t kill yourself with true lies.
Figure out what’s essential to you. For many years that you have been on your job, you have put YOU at the back seat. Now that you are off your job, figure out what is essential to you. What gives you true happiness? What excites you?
Being laid off is a blessing. Use our time off as a period of introspection. Have you given yourself to your work too much? Have you spent quality time with yourself and your family? Are they not screaming silently for your time?
Settle on what to do next. Be quick to make a positive response. Don’t let idle time slip you by. Figure out if you can still find another job or settle down with managing your own business. At this time, listen to your instincts. Find the answer inside your heart.
Make a definite action. If you want to try finding another job, begin sending out your resumes. Browse for the job market online. If you decide to engage in a family business, start finding the people and resources that will help you in your new journey.
Find yourself a support group. You would need people to back you up during these hard times. Your support group may include your spouse and family, friends, a coach, or your pastor. You don’t have to carry your load alone.
Reward yourself. Rewards are a great encouragement. Perhaps you can have a scoop of ice cream after sending out ten resumes. Or a simple family get together as your business license gets approved.
